Pdf Assembler 2008 is used to combine multiple PDF files into one, with the option of attaching arbitrary files.

  • The evil ribbon GUI to for the pleasure of self-torture. You're welcome.
  • Large, colorful buttons to help you find the most important places to click.
  • Many small push buttons, check boxes, radio buttons, text boxes, drop-down lists providing you many options, as if you'd need it at all.
  • Add a file or a folder, encrypted or not, it doesn't matter.
  • Remember to choose an output file name before you're attempted to press the round blue button.
  • The "Advanced" tab has some weirdly useful options that even Acrobat left out, such as:
    • Can you get rid of the duplicate copies of the same font or image? - Sure!
    • Can you scan the files to delete junks that's never get used? - You bet.
    • Can you group the form fields in each input file so that I am not confused? - N.p.
    • Can you iron the comment marks into the page so that they are permanent? - Yeah.
  • By the way as the job progresses, you can see the icons of the files changing, indicating which file it is currently processing and what the status is (error, encrypted, etc.).
 

Pdf Splitter 2008 does the contrary: splitting one PDF file into multiple individual files, each containing a selected range of pages. Don't ask me why people want to do that. They just do. Likewise some people wil scan all pictures into an online album, and some others will print all digital photos on expensive paper.

  • Similar ribbon interface with changeable color scheme, large and colorful buttons, and many options.
  • Split a file by page range, bookmark structure, page size change, or page label change.
  • Work on multiple input files.
  • Output file names are customizable.
  • One strange option needs attention in the "Advanced" tab: Verbose Xref table entries. The "Xref" table is the TOC of everything inside a PDF. Checking this boxes means you will integrate but relatively large TOC in each output files, otherwise some empty entries are not included but you risk the file being rejected by some PDF viewers, including early versions of Acrobat.
